Blob: A Love Story by Maggie Su

Did not finish book. Stopped at 70%.

Second hand embarrassment fully discouraged me from finishing. I was expecting an unconventional romance involving a blob and found myself reading about the most unlikeable mc. I stopped toward the end in chapter 17 where

she im assuming was about to embarrass elliot

. Vi is a deeply unlikeable person, she is hateful and cruel. I normally like these traits in characters but she is self loathing in a way that she acknowledges that she's self loathing and still somehow makes it someone else's fault. The way she treats women disturbed me. Especially with

her ignoring that her  friend was getting abused and somehow centering it around herself. The slut shaming

I just could not. This was the most disappointing read of the year. There was also not enough blob or lovestory. Theres definitely an audience for this book but I am not in it
