Captain America: Winter Soldier by Ed Brubaker

4.0

2019 - Just a really good, tense, paranoid political spy thriller, with excellent characterisation (I now understand just how much they shafted Sharon Carter in the films) and agonising moral dilemmas. Bucky and what happens to him is the real emotional core of this story, despite the fact that he is barely on the page. He's the ghost that haunts Cap, just as the Winter Soldier is the ghost that haunts post-war Europe.

2016 - I have too many feelings about Bucky and I don't know where to put them. Maybe I can exorcise them by going back and reading this? Or maybe - probably - it will just make it worse.
