Beastly Bones
by William Ritter
I enjoyed this one even better than the first -- and that's not usually the case for me, since I love origin stories and world building. We've got plenty of that still going on (but not in a dry, info-dumping sort of way), plus the humor is very prevalent and much more even this time around. What really makes me love the book, though, is Rook. She is an amazing character and I love her focus on science and her striving to make a name for herself in the world no matter what people tell her she can't do.
