Why this was on PBS’s the Great American Read list I will never know. This book is mediocre at best and not one I would recommend. The most interesting character is the dog Einstein. The humans surrounding him are stock characters and most are down right boring (with the exception of the lawyer). I seriously wonder why this would be on any list with The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and To Kill a Mockingbird.
