Rhythm, Chord & Malykhin by Mariana Zapata
3.0

Once again, Mariana Zapata is able to write great romance without all the sex. I love the way she always focuses on the development of the relationship absent the physical aspect. They're not just friends then lovers - they are slow growing friends, then romantic, then lovers.

And although I really like this author, I didn't especially care for this book. This was a girl with brothers and who fit right in with an all-guys band. But the endless bathroom humor and rough language just didn't sit well with me. She didn't have to be a girly girl, but some degree of femininity would have been nice.

Zapata also made mention of a couple of the main characters from her other novels, and that made me smile.

Overall I liked this slightly past the "it was okay" mark. It doesn't compare with Kulti, but it is still Zapata. I hope in her future books she steers away from the rougher aspects she attributes to her female characters. It's possible for them to fit in with guys without losing the softer parts.
