Run Time by Catherine Ryan Howard

Run time is a slow-burning psychological thriller and once I got my head around the interwoven movie script and the novel within a novel (I’m easily confused) I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I love a locked-room style mystery in an isolated location and the setting in this one is perfect; the cold, dark, remote forest provides an eerie backdrop to the story and gives it a claustrophobic, creepy atmosphere and a prickly sense of foreboding that lingers throughout.

The characters are well-written, rounded and relatable — I was never quite sure who to trust.

Run Time has plenty of twists and turns to keep you guessing and some tense, nail-biting moments. This was my first Catherine Ryan Howard and certainly won’t be my last.

Many thanks to the publisher for my proof copy, in exchange for an honest, unbiased review.
