I got about 1/4 of the way through and nothing was happening plot-wise. The entire thing read like a world-building project more than a narrative. Possibly it would be easier to consume if I read it rather than listened to it so I could skip a lot of the (in my mind) needlessly detailed explanations and calculations. I have liked Vern up to this point, so maybe Ill give it a shot in future as a physical book rather than an audio book. Nothing against the narrator, he was quite good!
