The Hook-Up Experiment

Here we are again, although I did not care too much for The Upside to Being Single, I am obviously back to support a personal favorite author, because I just have to. My hopes and dreams going into The Hook-Up Experiment were average at best with a side of caution, I was hoping for yummy goodies but set myself up to assume it might be average. Thank goodness I got a little bit better with my expectations because I definitely preferred Peyton's storyline over Mellie.
The most important thing that always gets me interesting in Emma Hart's books is her quirky fun, up-beat and assertive scenarios for her characters. The backbone of all her novels are surrounded by the building of main relationship blossoming to the supporting cast, everything and everyone is linked. Basically from Peyton to Elliot to Dom, Chloe then back around to Jake and Mellie. This is something I really enjoy about her writing style.
Of course since the characters are the main basis of all things holy in this book, I gotta dive into this more. I loved Elliot. Why is it I always end up liking the male lead more, but it happened again. He is just adorable with his daughter, his personality is just easy-going yet straight forward. Elliot is the perfect match for Peyton, he matches her in sarcasm and snarky attitude.
Peyton however was a love/hate for me, and not always in the best of light. In some aspects I really enjoyed her stubborn attitude, snide sarcastic jokes - making her seem like the life of the party. My issue however can be leveled with the fact that she is such an immature mindset it makes me want to scream. Peyton held onto this immature grudge for well over a decade, hell it was because of a missing prom incident, yet for whatever reason couldn't seem to grow up and move on from this factor? Like she legitimately loathed Elliot for this incident that happened in High School - this just seemed rather trivial to me for a plot. I would have much rather liked it to have been more catastrophic if a person was going to hold a grudge for so long.
Regardless of this factor, I will be the first to admit that the chemistry between Peyton and Elliot was delicious, fun and above all entertaining. The connection they served was believable. The sex scenes - oh my goodness, let me just wipe the drool.
Overall, I enjoyed this novel more than I thought I would. I was excited because I loved the synposis but didn't want to get my expectations too high after my disappointment previously. I am happy this shined a better light. It was decently paced, breeze type read where I read it pretty fast and enjoyed it. Aside from the lingering juvenile personalities that seemed to be over played in the plot, I liked the characters enjoy to keep reading. I am curious to see how The Dating Experiment will pan out, really interested to see how Dom and Chloe work out!
