Sure. Okay. It was interesting to explore the morality of a character like Coleman, considering what he did versus who he is. And I enjoyed how meta it was for Zuckerman to be writing The Human Stain. Sure. But none of this can justify pages upon pages of racial slurs, demeaning women for 350 pages, and some weird anti-trans rhetoric in the middle for good measure. This book is not written for anyone in marginalized groups to connect with.
