What can I say about this one that has not already been said?
First, I will say that I think a lot of people are getting so emotionally wrecked by the story that they aren't paying attention to the flaws of the actual writing. Yes, the writing is beautiful, but it's also repetitive adn dull with a lot of run on sentences. The descriptions in this book are also a lot of the time, not necessary.
Second, I will say that even though I did enjoy a lot of the story, if you took out all the flourishy, ridiculous language and unnecessary descriptions the book would have been about 200 pages shorter, and probably better.
Jude's story is tragic, if you watched one reading vlog about this book or heard anyone talk about it, you would know that. But, I think some of the story might be a little ridiculous (maybe not what happened to him when he was younger, of course stuff like that happens, but some stuff after, especially since he bottles everything up and refuses to talk about it). I also don't love the way that the story is marketed as a story about 4 college roommates when it should be marketed as a man with a slight sidebar of his 3 college friends.
SLIGHT SPOILER (for content only not the actual story)if you are triggered by some of the warnings and don't want to read it because of that I would say that the depictions of his sexual abuse are nowhere near as graphic as his depictions of self-harm OR the domestic violence that goes on
I also did not cry, at all, which was a surprise, because I feel like everyone cries with this one, I must be broken.
