TL/DR - good Concept and great vibes but little substance leaving me disappointed
Pretty language evokes some strong images and a great southern gothic vibe but the plot is thin and the pacing drags. lots of interesting ideas are introduced and then just kind of peter out.
The house is the must interesting character in the book, Opal is whiny and depressingly dull, Arthur is stoic and depressingly dull. Awkward sex scene crowbarred 3 quarters of the way through made me cringe.
