When I first read the summary I was kind of intrigue about this book, so I gave it a try. Once I finished, I had mixed feelings, it wasn’t the worst book i have ever read, but it wasn’t the best either.

This book tells the story of Lara Jean, who has a box with letters for her crushes, till one day, when she discovers that every letter has been mailed to every one of them (mysteriously). Interesting. As you keep reading, you find out the story behind those letters and why she wrote them. The same goes to her relationship with her older sister, who Lara adores, Josh who is her sister's ex-boyfriend and Peter, her first kiss and now her fake-boyfriend, because they want to make Josh jealous (she is in love with him) and Gen (Peter's ex-girlfriend). As I keep reading, I find out the story simple, cliche i should say… And I’m not going to lie, I’m used to this kind of stories, but this one is not what I expect, it was banal.

It started quite good, but the attitude of the main characters were sometimes childish, immature, so in the end I didn’t connect emotionally with any of them, specially with Lara Jean, she is all the adjectives i’ve mentioned before and maybe its just that i like characters with more attitude. I don’t think the age (she is 16) can be an excuse. She has a friend called Chris, and I really wished their relationship meant something, Chris was a pointless character.

It feels like there’s no character growth, well, there’s not, and that’s what I expect the most with characters, especially if we are talking about the main character. At least a little bit of romance which is a huge absence in the entire book, what's the point of a young adult book without romance?

Quite disappointed and I'm not sure if I should read the sequel, but i would like to see if there's some improvement, I hope there is.
