This book was fun to read and the main character was pretty compelling. There is a lot of gore and trauma, though. The first third is the most interesting as details are revealed about the characters. But then the remainder is just fun. The story is quite predictable - which didn't make it less enjoyable to read but it did make it feel a bit slow. It’s interesting that the author is a psychologist. I read this book because my friend, who is a therapist, recommended it. The book is very much about human minds, relationships, and trauma (A LOT OF TRAUMA) but it’s also a haunted house story. You could view it solely as a metaphor or solely as a horror book, but you’ll probably enjoy it more if you are interested in both sides of the story.
