For a book that's named "The Rose and the Thorn", there was far too little Gwen content.
I loved the introduction of Albert though, and I liked getting to know Hilfred more (

and the glimpse we got of Alric, I'm so sad

).
Royce is... chilling, in this one, but I loved following his report with Hadrian and his relationship with Gwen.
Also the plot was good, especially the Revelations-related parts.
