Dex + Lanie
When Dex’s wife leaves him and their three kids he’s in desperate need of a nanny to help. Lanie enters his life like a hurricane. She talks back, she’s sassy, she’s flirty, but most importantly she’s amazing with his kids. But Lanie is running from her own demons and Dex and the kids just might be the only thing that can save her.
Dex is a self made millionaire who is fiercely protective of his kids and those he loves. After his ex-wife leaves him and the kids he likes to pretend he doesn’t have room for love in his life but he is absolutely a romantic at heart. He pursues Lanie both relentlessly and patiently. He shows her that love doesn’t have conditions, isn’t finite, and most importantly is forever. He is also a fierce dad who loves his kids and wants the world for them.
Lanie’s healing journey is slow and vulnerable and I absolutely loved that. I loved that she didn’t just wake up and say “this guy loves me so I’m all better.” It was such a realistic depiction of how healing has good days and bad days. How you can be fine for days or weeks and suddenly you’re not. Lanie was imperfect but that’s what made her a genuinely loveable character. Her relationship with Tate and her ability to heal him when she didn’t even know if she could be healed was amazing.
Overall, an incredibly sweet and emotional single dad/nanny romance! MLM was definitely the highlight for me!
