This book was a pretty easy read. I had fun reading it so I wouldn't call it mid but it def had it's issues.
The plot was kinda outlandish to begin with but hey, shit happens. How the author explained on how everything went down after 10 years made sense but some of it was pretty predictable. I pretty much guessed the killer from chapter 5 or 6 and was simply continuing for the vibes and Josh. I loved Josh he was so cute.Boy did that come to bite me in the ass later LOL I will say however there were 2 plot twists I didn't expect.
Discount Scream anyone? I never watched Scream the movie but I know the gist of the plot and boy did McFadden copy that shit LMAO. Props to her tho because she made a decent storyline out of it. Do I think it's better than Scream? idfk I've never watched that shit... but since it's a discount vers. for a reason so I doubt it lives up to the original.
As for the characters... brutha... how df did Brooke pass nursing school with no critical thinking skills? Like huh? Well.. I've seen idiot nurses so ig this shouldn't really surprise me... I really think people working in medical field need critical thinking to succeed... You gonna tell me after 10 years and returning to your hometown you're gonna take a job where your murder ex works?? And then doubt your testimony??? Like bsffr... in the book nobody can tell me otherwise... she survived off of pure luck and if it was irl she would've been the one to die...100% I think the cheerleader best friend would've lived. Bitch had common sense unlike Brooke...
Last paragraph will be the biggest spoiler so uh... if you haven't read the book... that's a skill issue on your part.BRO WHEN I FOUND OUT JOSH MURDERED SHANE.... Holy fuckkkkkkkk like the apple doesn't fall far from the tree omfg... I wonder if he was being bullied in his school at Queens or if he intentionally antagonized those kids omg... Josh is 100% either gonna be dumb af like his dad or is gonna end up being the next Dexter... there is no in between unless Brooke finds out he's psychopath... shouldn't the therapist have caught it tho?? Especially if he's a minor I'm pretty sure they gotta report it... oh well... kid def needs therapy.. AND STAT
Overall this was the story I needed to get me out my slump and it did a good job at keeping me entertained. I plan on reading the Housemaid since the movie is coming out so hopefully that's better and less predictable.
