What a fantastic start to this series!!
I have been in a horrible reading rut. I'm usually a serial series binger, but the past several months, I've been struggling to binge read series. This book has broken my mental block on reading series in one go. As soon as I finished this one, I downloaded the second book from Kindle Unlimited and instantly dove in.
Spark of the Everflame does a beautiful job of setting up our world, our characters, and their places in this world and foreshadowing their futures. For the most part, this book is establishing who our heroine is, who her love interest is, and the internal struggle she has as a healer faced with the daily injustices her people are put through. And that's what this first book is. Its the set up, which usually annoys me, but with how beautiful the writing is, the worldbuilding, the lore drops- i was captivated the entire time I was reading this as we led up to the pivotal turning point for Diem.
Really well done and I HIGHLY recommend jumping into this series! I'm mad I didn't jump in earlier.
