I'm not sure why but it took me some time to get into this book. I bought it mostly because I've liked the whit of A. Lee Martinez's previous book In the Company of Ogres. I enjoyed this book too, but not quite as much. I think the concepts are interesting but some of the elements could do with a little more fleshing out. There seemed to be quite a bit of detail about the demonic girlfriend but little to nothing about the other side of the coin with the angels, beyond that they seem easy and maybe a little on the hippyish side of things. The other thing that bugged me was the lack of thought on the part of the characters when they find out what's really going on. They don't seem to think through any possible repercussions of their actions.
I would recommend it to friends and I'll continue to read A. Lee Martinez books. This one was good and entertaining and well-paced, but just missed a little something here and there. A for effort.
