After I Do
by Taylor Jenkins Reid
"Ryan and I are two people who used to be in love. What a beautiful thing to have been. What a sad thing to be."
A bit saccharine in places, and admittedly disappointing after reading The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, but not without its good passages. Lauren and Ryan's marriage growing stale and them "falling out of love" with each other was largely believable, and did feel natural and well-timed. The prose was a bit plain in places, and some of the dialogue a little contrived, but it was certainly a heartwarming read. 2.8 stars, rounded up. ✰✰✰
