The emotional damage I got reading this book...

ANYWAY It took me six whole months to complete as I read on and off, taking breaks from reading when it became really triggering. I will say, however, that Yanagihara writes beautifully, hauntingly so. I can't discredit her writing style, which kept me going to finish the book eventually. The way she is able to write the complexities of the friend group, and how she keeps the flow between past, present, and future, is the reason why I liked this book. In the second half, I couldn't stop reading until I finished. Finishing it left me hollow in a way I can't exactly describe.

Also throughout reading, I kept ranting to my friend about it who hadn't read the book. She said she wouldn't read it after what I told her about the book LMAO.

Anyway I hate that when I was like almost finished with the book it started trending on tiktok and I just knew the girlies would be divided when they read this book
