The Woman in Me by Britney Spears

emotional inspiring medium-paced

4.0

Covers Britney Spears's life and career, with particular focus given to her experiences in the spotlight, her strained relationship with her family, and the conservatorship she lived under for over a decade.

I found this to be a fast-paced, streamlined autobiography that gave an interesting insight into Spears's life and how she'd been forced by both the media and the conservatorship to live a strange life in which she was treated as somewhere between child and woman, not capable enough to manage her own affairs but capable enough to be exploited. She makes for a sympathetic subject.

I listened to this book as an audiobook which is narrated by Michelle Williams. I thought she did an excellent job in capturing Spears's voice and delivered an emotional performance.
