For those who like puzzles, mysteries, lots of drama and a dash of romantic tension, The Inheritance Games delivers a fun reading experience.

It made me think of Knives Out, The Westing Game, and Truly Devious - all of which pleased me for a host of reasons. The everyone’s-a-suspect feeling is always enticing. There’s some great banter between Avery and the Hawthorne boys. I’m not one to feel inclined to try to solve puzzles in books, but I enjoy the tension around them.

Personally, I didn’t find Avery to be as interesting a character as the grandsons, which made me less invested at times, however it’s a series so perhaps she’ll be developed even more as we go on.

I’ll be happy to spend some more time puzzling out the dramas and secrets of the Hawthorne family.
