The Dream Job by Kiersten Modglin

4.0

This book was more like a 3.75, but I'm rounding up.

As I’ve said before, Kiersten Modglin is always an auto-buy author for me. Whenever I’m in a slump, I’ll pick up one of her books and read it under 24 hours! Her stories are always so thrilling and intriguing, and they’re super easy to read… so it was no surprise that I flew through this book too.

That being said, I feel like all of her endings feel anti-climactic. Like… I’m not sure what it is about them, but they just always fall flat for me. The build-up is so good, and I can never put the book down because I NEED to know what happens… but the ending is usually disappointing. I don’t even know what direction I was expecting the book to take, but it sure wasn’t this. All that lying and betraying and intense tension/drama between the characters didn’t seem worth it… but maybe that’s just me.

I kind of guessed the plot twist in this one because it was similar to another book I’ve read, but the storyline was definitely original! I think this one might even be my favorite Kiersten Modglin book so far.
