The story is really interesting, and deeply rooted in to reality and today technology development. And it question the importance of the body and the relationship we can have with our body in a world where it won't matter anymore. It also tackled the question of how our perception of sex and gender can affect the way we see or think human relation and social order which Victor and Ry illustrate perfectly. Victor mysterious idealist that still have integrated sexual/gender bias and Ry really challenges his ideas.
Jeanette Winertson really emphasis that cis men perception of the world does not include others but at the same time sees their as a universal perception. The character of Ron Lord really embodies that idea with a lot a humour.
IT'S A BEAUTIFUL LOVESTORY BESIDE ALL OF THAT.
