Vampires, Hearts, & Other Dead Things
by Margie Fuston
Vampires, Hearts, & Other Dead Things explores long-term grief and what happens when we don't want to accept that a loved one is dying or has died. Victoria and her father have such a sweet relationship. Though I ached for her, I also struggled with her character a bit, especially at the beginning. But the story was entertaining enough, and her BFF Henry was too good for this world, so I finished the book, and I'm glad I did. Victoria starts out with a negative character arc, which makes her story's conclusion so much sweeter. The quotes from vampire movies, shows, and books were a blast too.
So, if you're looking for a dark, vampire mood read, give this one a try!
Content: no spice, but some suggestive talk and innuendo as well as a few passionate kisses; infrequent mild language
