The Blood Spell by C.J. Redwine
4.0
The Blood Spell has quickly made its way in my heart and to the top as one of my favorite fairytale retellings.
C.J Redwine's take on Cinderella has potions, spells, witches, blood magic, alchemy and carries that warm cottage-core vibes throughout the story.
The romance between Blue and Kellan was sweet and refreshing. I adored their childhood friends-turned-lovers story. Both Blue and Kellan had their own unique and vibrant personalities that both challenged and complemented each other so perfectly.
I thoroughly enjoyed how the story took its time getting to really know our two main characters; their hopes, their dreams – their nightmares.
I absolutely adored Nessa, I thought she was the most interesting and endearing character in this retelling, I only wished we could have seen so much more of her in the book. Can we petition for Nessa to have her own spin-off novel?
For me, the story lost its momentum towards the third half of the book. It felt a little long and dragged out, which made it difficult to get through the book at times. Despite this, The Blood Spell was still an amazing read! I highly would highly rate this as one of best Cinderella retellings out there.
