Descent of Angels by Mitchel Scanlon
5.0

I really enjoyed this one.

It started quite slow but was interesting to see how the Dark Angels began on Caliban before they even became Astartes. The previous entries in the series don't go into as much depth.

The focus was around mainly Zahariel, Nemiel, The Lion and Luther. This meant the main characters were given more depth than others in the series.

I particularly liked when the imperium arrived and how that affected the main characters and their people. I was disappointed that this part of the story didn't go on for longer. I enjoyed, although found it depressing, the imagery around how the imperium were destroying the nature on the planet for their war machine.

Sarosh was a bit of a twist. A seemingly compliant planet, buried in bureacracy making it difficult for them to fully join the imperium.

Definitely recommend the read.
