Invaders: 22 Tales from the Outer Limits of Literature by W. P. Kinsella, Jim Shepard, Steven Millhauser

4.0

It’s true of every short-story collection that it’s a mixed bag in terms of style and quality; the latter is particularly varied in this book. While no story is downright terrible, a few definitely could’ve been culled (Loory’s childish entry, Díaz’s annoying bro tale.) But then you find gems like Lethem’s ‘Five Fucks’ and Molly Flows’ ‘Lambing Season,’ and it’s worth it.
