Undead and Unwelcome
by MaryJanice Davidson
It's been a few years since I read the Undead series. Picked this one up after the break and discovered that I'd rather read more Fred or the Pack than Queen Betsy. The two plots felt completely at odd with each other, disjointed and not particularly interesting. More like reading a Sookie Stackhouse than Betsy tale.
Overall, the plot and absolutely over-the-top characterizations ended up earning the book 2.5/5 stars. I wanted more between Betsy and Pack wives, honestly. There was a lot of missing elements. Too much frenzied action and not enough character relationships. Didn't care for the journal aspect either. A new way of first POV but not at all well-executed.
Too bad. Definitely not a favorite of the series and I may backburner Betsy in the future. Recycled ignorance and narcissism gets old after awhile.
