Day Shift by Charlaine Harris
3.0

It entertained me well enough. I often need a genre book like this for when my brain won't shut down at night, when I'm awake with insomnia, or otherwise can't concentrate. So I looked at each word in order, but I didn't exactly read the first half of this book. I looked at the words, but I was thinking about upcoming interviews, practicing answers and questions, and then rehashing what I should have said or added to my answer. Even so, it was easy to follow the plot and it entertained me, which is all I ask.

With this one and the first in the series, there are some "wink, wink, nudge, nudge" moments that are thrown in for devoted fanatics of Charlaine Harris' writings...mentions of minor characters from other series, that sort of thing. I recognize that the information should be significant, but I rarely recognize the person in question...I've not read all of Harris' work and when I did, I often read them like I read this one: looking at the words with something else on my mind. That being said, I did recognize some of the references
