Another remarkable achievement from veteran author John Irving; A Widow for One Year is a heartbreaking novel filled with characters so human, it’s impossible not to become friends with them. This novel is split into three parts, each at a different time of the character’s lives. Although I enjoyed the first of the three increments the most, they are all full of beautiful writing and an amazing story. The endings of Irving’s novels is always what he writes first, and then he forms his books according to the ending he has chosen, and from the five novels of his I have read, the ending to A Widow For One Year would be my first or second favorite. This is a great novel that I hope many people will read and enjoy.
