Upgrade is a science fiction novel about saving humanity by “fixing” it with genetic manipulation. Logan is a scientist turned field agent for the Genetic Protection Agency. But he suddenly finds himself involved with the struggle of being upgraded.
The book has a lot of science around gene expression and some gun descriptions. But I found them generally well explained and very useful to the plot. They added a touch of realism. The philosophy around why Humanity is unwilling to save itself is touched on in the later half of the book. While there is violence, it tends to be superhero styled without ultra graphic descriptions. If you enjoyed Hail Mary, you’d also like this novel.
