It was certainly a great read. It was short, highly descriptive and atmospheric without over indulging in over describing the scenes.
However it was not what I would call horror it's more of a paranoia, psychological thriller with a supernatural element to it.
It is said that hp lovecraft had said it was what frightened him as a child as some type of endorsement. For me I reject it has any horror element to it. It's definitely an enjoyable quick read and fast paced. For me it was like a third person experience so although the fear and anxiety was described I did not feel the same nor did it influence my mind that it was frightening. I instead saw how two minds saw things facing the same situations of panic and come to two different conclusions before realizing a mutual one.
