Heart-Shaped Box by Joe Hill
4.0

I really enjoyed it. It wasn't horror-scary, I can't sleep anymore because I'm scared, it was more like creepy horror, where the atmosphere is more important. The tension was built step by step, from the ghost that doesn't do anything, to the tv that wouldn't stop. The dream sequences, especially the first one, were just perfect. That holy sh*t moment, I just can't put the book down, I have to keep reading. I loved the fact that the characters actually evolved and ended up with layers as we learned mire about their personal history. And, boy, all of them were so messed up. The animal companions part was interesting and I liked that he didn't kill them off at the beginning. Instead, he made them a powerful weapon against the evil ghost. Their first fight was awesome. Bammy was great, I would've liked to see her more. About the ending. It was ok, what I expected, honestly. I actually didn't know the author is the son of Stephen King
