this book is a crime against humanity.

"sandover prep" was one of the worst books i've ever read even though i did enjoy other novels by the same author. this one was crazy, reading it felt like watching a reality-tv but 10 times worse. i had to send audio messages to friends because it got too weird to deal with it on my own. i don't remember what the girl's name was so i will call her laura.

first of all, why is the the author as an adult woman writing so many very explicit sex scenes about minors/high schoolers?? creepy.

secondly, why are there 6 povs???

rj is a pretentious teenager who really needs therapy. like what do you mean you ignore the privacy of those close to you because you can't make friends the normal way but rather stalk them digitally and read their messages, view their nudes etc. what the flip?? and it was laura who had to teach him empathy. great, i love when men are children that wish for a mother more than they wish for a partner.

another aspect i always love: men pretending their penis is a human. it's okay that you don't have any personality except from being pretentious, but please don't try to make up for it by talking to your dick.

one of the most stupid thing in this book: the whole hacking thing, that rj started as a kid. yes. he literally said that he has been part of the hacking community since he was a child. that's crazy. imagine a 7 year old boy who went to an additional-needs kindergarten hacking into your bank account. how he talks about his business in present days doesn't do much either like why is he trying to appear like a mysterious adult but at the same time he tells everyone about his stupid hacking start up??

furthermore, why does rj say that he hates to not be the best at something but then he does not care that he looks funny in swimwear and isn't as good at swimming as the other guys in the team? make it make sense!!

it seemed like nothing was as scary to him as being perceived as gay or having any real connection to others. rj talked about himself as a lone wolf and i think that pretty much sums up what he thinks of himself.

i did not expect much from a guy who analogously said "sex as a workout is a fulltime job" but somehow i was still disappointed.

on another note, what is wrong with laura?? why does she try so hard to be different? and why doesn't she have any personality apart from having a younger sister who, the readers are supposed to believe, needs lauras help. oh and she likes boys. groundbreaking information in a romance novel.

in addition to that, why does lauras father seem to have an incestuous interest in his daughters. i unterstand that his feelings towards them going out or just doing normal teenager stuff has changed after what that person did to his younger daughter but why is the consequence to kind of let them live as if they were in a cage?? it's just weird. like let them live.

also: why is there a secret underground fightclub in every other college/boarding school romance novel? why is it never talked about how that is just another way for those students to cross boundaries and not reflect in themselves and their anger but rather nearly kill their classmates. and why is it accepted among the staff?

the craziest thing about those fights was the teacher telling an injured student to just go back to bed instead of going to the infirmary. i had high hopes but sadly, nobody died.

lastly, what is wrong with landon or whatever his name was (the only openly queer person that this one teacher crushed on). why tf would he as a student would think it was okay to ask his teacher questions about his sex life?? why aren't there any consequences?? why is the only bi character overly sexualized??
in general, where are the adults at?? he has a sex and substance addiction that was never adressed.

and why - and that's just concerning - does the teacher accept his phone number?? that behaviour is never labeled as abuse and that's crazy. and then landon sleeps with not 1 but 2 teachers like wtfff that is just straight up sexual abuse and abuse of power by those teachers.

pls don't read this book. it's bad. just shows how rich white boys will get away with everything and to understand that you can just go outside and experience capitalism and the partiarchy.
