Hmm. As a book that explicitly  markets itself as a romcom, there's lots of com but little rom. And what rom there is, it just doesn't work.
I liked Darla a lot. Jarko was okay. The Book is lacking in their chemistry. They went from rivals to "I love you" with odd, out of nowhere "break ups". Example, they kiss after their 2nd monster hunting trial. And Jarko is immediately like nope. We gotta break up (even though they weren't together) and leaves. It felt manufactured in the story. It felt like Darla and Jarko had like 5 scenes together so from rivals to instalove to breakup to Jarko's return to 'I Love you's ended up in odd, contrived pacing and plot.
