Seven Faceless Saints by M.K. Lobb
3.0
Conceptually this book was quite impressive. It has a unique premise with efforts made to build the world.
Unfortunately, this was let down by the execution.
The plot was not fast paced enough, I wanted to know what happened next, but this certainly wasn’t a page turner.
The book is a sold as murder mystery, but the mystery is solved very quickly in the end in a rushed manner.
There were no cues, foreshadowing or Easter eggs that would make the “twist” reasonable .
Instead it felt random and more of an after thought.
To summarise, this book had a unique and memorable concept, with interesting characters and some hard hitting lines, but lacked a well paced plot. This felt like a first draft and really needs to be refined. With some work, it could really be a 5 star book. As it stands, a generous 3 stars for the concept and world building.
