The Winners
by Fredrik Backman
I finally finished this huge tome. Despite moments of brilliance where I found traces Backman's sensitive storytelling, I found the different threads in this novel cumbersome. I read on because I was invested in the characters that Backman introduced in Beartown. I did not care for the new characters that he introduced in this novel, the politics, or the hooligans, or the unnecessary villain and tragedy. There was no need for that. I liked the last few pages though. I liked how the story ended.
