I think this is one of the only Roald Dahl books that I had only read the once and then never gone back to but I’m not entirely sure why that would be the case.
This is a very short and quite cute story about a young boy called Billy who is always promising his mother that he is being good, but who manages to sneak away for an adventure and to discover the Minpins living in the forest near his house.
This feels like very early Dahl so there isn’t some of the same polish as with his more recognisable books but it is still unmistakably Dahl that it just makes you smile all over again as you read through it.
