This Vicious Cure by Emily Suvada

4.0

Finally!! The conclusion I've been waiting so long for!!!
This book stepped it up with the post apocalyptic vibes and scifi and while I may not have understood much from the latter, it still somehow made sense and I appreciate it so much. I imagine if you had no interest in DNA whatsoever, you would be the kind of person to DNF this book/series. The stakes were higher than ever in this book and this reflected well in Suvada's writing. I did not expect the plot twist (WOW) but the solution to the problem felt mundane. I such a complex world, I would've liked to see a much more complicated ending. The ending felt too light and that everything was going to be ok again but this is the kind of story where I would've been ok with it not being ok. At times, some of the plot felt too convenient and at other times it made perfect sense why things were working our the way they were. The two person perspective was a little hard to keep up with in the beginning of the book, but once you were a few chapters in, it didn't feel overwhelming. Overall, the complex relationships in this book made the entire plot so much more enjoyable and exciting (although the characters wouldn't agree). There was always someone suffering from the consequences of someones actions that felt too real to grasp. I love character driven books but this book did a wonderful job of having the plot as well as the characters drive the book. I look forward to reading more of Emily Suvada's books in the future.
