Dare You by Ella Frank, Brooke Blaine
5.0
A return to the Chicagoverse AND an Ella Frank and Brooke Blaine collaboration? Yes, please! I’ve been so excited to read Bash and Kieran’s story to see where these two seemingly opposite characters take us. Knowing I’ll have to wait more than a month for the next book, I tried to read this one slow to make the story last longer. But, as always with Ella and Brooke’s books, I couldn’t put it down and it ended way too fast!
I couldn’t wait for more Bash Vogel in my life - he’s such a unique, confident and flamboyant character that he brings a little spice to every situation he’s in. Every time he’s in this book, he’s his fabulous self, turning heads and capturing people’s attention for not only his looks but his intelligence and personality.
One of those people enthralled with Bash is Kieran Bailey, the hunky, straight (?), brave and outgoing Bailey brother. He’s such a sweetheart and is so dedicated to his job as a lieutenant with the Chicago Fire Department. Kieran never saw Bash coming, but Bash definitely had his eye on Kieran from the very beginning.
These two meet when Kieran’s called to a fire and rescues Bash from his burning hotel room...we all know Bash has a thing for firefighters, so it’s not surprising that he makes it his mission to thank Kieran and the others for their help. Bash and Kieran both feel a pull toward each other and become friends and that friendship grows into something more, something steamy and wonderful. Their relationship is flirty, honest, open and hilarious in true Bash and Kieran style. I love that they keep each other on their toes and that their senses of humor mesh so well with each other, even in stressful or uncomfortable situations. They’re an unexpected pairing, but they work so well together with Kieran’s open mindedness and curiosity and Bash’s sassy and unapologetic nature.
As usual with Ella and Brooke books, this one ends with a little bit of a dramatic misunderstanding and conflict. While that’s one of my least favorite plot devices, I’m really looking forward to seeing where these ladies take Bash and Kieran from here and what they’ll do to get things cleared up between them. Is it August yet? I’m ready for more of these two!
