Minor Feelings: An Asian American Reckoning by Cathy Park Hong

5.0

This book was exactly what I wished I had read before finishing my MFA program. It is memoir and cultural consciousness and a call to action weaved together into one incredibly moving, powerful book. It is honest and hard to read and dives deeply into what it means to be Asian American--something I’m still figuring out every single day. “Minor feelings” are the threads that runs through each essay and, despite their name, are anything but minor. So much of this collection resonated with me personally, which I will hold particularly near and dear to me, but I also believe it would be beneficial for anyone to read, Asian American or not.
