Griffin & Winnie are BEYOND ADORABLE. I loved their story so much! The banter, the sexual tension & the “I hate to want you but oh man I do” vibes were everything.
Winnie is the new police chief for the small town of Quincy. This is the town her father grew up in & her pops is currently serving as the mayor. When Winnie & her fiancé of several years break up, she decides she needs a change of pace. With everyone personal going on in her life she’s ready to focus on her career & maybe find her new normal in Quincy with her pops. What Winnie doesn’t expect is the unwelcome attitude she gets from some of the locals as well as the officers at the precinct. However, Winnies knows that in order to win the town’s approval she just needs to have The Eden family support her. They founded Quincy, own majority of the business in town & are pretty much Quincy royalty. All is going well until she meets for lunch with her pops, the head Eden man himself & his eldest son Griffin… whom Winnie had a one night stand with her first official night in town.
Griffin is the biggest grump asshole with absolutely no care for anyone but his family & his ranch. He lives & breathes the cowboy lifestyle & doesn’t let anything, especially women, distract him from that. He’s known for his one nighters with tourists & his gruff attitude. When he discovers his had a one night stand with the new chief of police, who’s not only young but an outsider, he is far from pleased with himself. He takes every opportunity to remind Winnie that she’s not a local & he wants nothing to do with her {total bullshit btw}.
But when a dead woman’s body is found on his property, Winnie learns all about the towns past & things just simply don’t add up. When she starts to get too close to the killer, things heat up & get INTENSE. I absolutely was hooked so hard with this book, I highly recommend it! It’s an amazing romantic suspense w/ the grumpy sunshine aspect & a bad ass heroine who isn’t afraid to stand up for what she believes in.
