A Great Reckoning by Louise Penny
5.0

I might say this about each new book Louise Penney publishes but it's especially true of 'A Great Reckoning' -- it's her best yet.
All the main players are accounted for in this book plus one that we haven't heard from since 'The Cruelest Month'.
Armand Gamache is retired from the force but is not done working. He takes over at the Surete Academy filling the classrooms with surprising choices in both professors and cadets. There's a mysterious map that was found in the wall of the Bistro in Three Pines. This makes it's way into the academy but it isn't the only mystery that needs to be solved.
There is bloodshed and manipulation and treachery in this book but there is also wisdom and compassion and kindness. What wins in the end? You'll have to read it to find out.
