Started super strong, but then it felt like the middle section dragged and nothing seemed to happen for chapters and chapters. Even when things did happen, it felt like it glided over the actually interesting bits and didn’t give us enough detail, then dwelled for ages on tedium. Ending also felt rushed and not very climactic. It felt like this book had so much promise, but the fact that the author chose to set it outside of Area X and to barely focus on the biologist, which was arguably what I opened the second book for, felt like a very strange and ineffective choice.
