I'm Just a Person
by Tig Notaro
I picked this up from the library after hearing Tig Notaro featured or interviewed on a few of my favorite podcasts, and I wasn't disappointed. This memoir reads like your friend telling you a straightforward story about one of the worst years of their life — you are constantly shocked by what happens next (seriously? you're deathly ill and then your mom dies? and THEN you get even more bad news??) but also strangely comforted by the humanity and warmth of their tone as they share this story. What Tig has been through is remarkable, and so is her resilience, humility, and hope. I highly recommend this to fans of her comedy, people with cancer, people who have survived cancer, people who have had a tough week/month/year, people who enjoy a hopeful ending, and really just... people in general. A great read.
