A Dragon's Guide to the Care and Feeding of Humans by Laurence Yep
4.0
I'm always a tiny bit disappointed at tales with shape-changing dragons. They're such splendid creatures; why diminish them by having them spend time in the form of puny humans?
But I fell in love with the prickly shape-changing Miss Drake. This is a lovely tale. It deals gently with grief, and joyfully with friendship. Miss Drake's plans for "training" Winnie are, of course, a source of amusement for readers who realize that the two characters are actually training each other.
I loved the setting, with a bevy of details bringing San Francisco to life. Mary GrandPre's illustrations are magical as always.
This one's a winner!
