The Property
by Rutu Modan
When Mica's father died her grandmother, Regina Segal, takes her to Poland to find out about a property the Segals had before the war. The apartment is just an excuse for the elderly woman to get closure with an old flame. Complicating matters is Avram who seems to be a professional buttinsky -though later we find out his true intentions and Mica's involvement with Tomasz, a tour guide/artist.
Slowly but surely Mica and Tomasz manage to piece together the mysteries regarding Regina's youth and the rightful owner of the property. From the first page depicting the grandmother trying to get a bottle of water onto an airplane to the last panel showing their plane heading back to Israel, this book captivated me and I couldn't let it go.
