I read the first book on a whim, despite the most generic-ass title ever lol. And I'm glad I did, it was a delightful read. Despite being new, it's style makes it feel SO nostalgic, in all the best ways. The narrator, Tom Babbage, also does an excellent performance, restrained but emotional reading. It was very befitting. 

My only qualm is that halfway through the book it feels like the story grinds to a halt for a while. It picks back up, thank god, but the book is so slow-going to begin with, it was jarring lol.
