You wanted a queer pairing in the Saint of Steel series? T. Kingfisher delivers in one of the darkest installments of the series. Lovers of Edgar Allan Poe/Gothic literature and Nettle and Bone should not miss out!
This is the only book in this series where I felt a stronger tie to the love interest, rather than the Paladin—and that still feels right. T. Kingfisher plays with her own formula here in ways that keeps the series feeling fresh and continues to capture lightning in a bottle for my ideal romance. Galen may be one of the least likable paladins in the series at times, but the payoff is so rewarding when he is finally humbled.
I can't wait for my bestie to read this series—I'm eager to hear what she thinks of this one!
